Flying Trucks Headline Monster Jam
Originally Published at on Jan 08 2012 • view original Families and Flying Trucks Attended the Monster Truck Jam on Saturday. The event started at 7:00 p.m. with a light show and a special appearance by the original Grave Digger truck. In the ring were drivers and their rides from all across the country competing for points to see who had the highest jumps and the fastest times.
There were also intermissions which featured an ATV race and dirt track race with 16 cars competing. The night was filled with excitement, especially from its younger audience – kids who seemed to outnumber adults by at least two to one. Seeing the youngsters as they watched the car crushing, high truck flying show was entertainment in itself. Their wide eyes, squeals, screams and cheering made one wonder if they were at the Monster Truck Jam or Disney.
Many of the kids bought mini-hats in the shape of trucks while the real trucks on the track gave the audience quite a show. One of the competitors was two time champion and former professional wrestler Ms. Debra Miceli. Miceli drove her pink truck named ‘Madusa’ and drove against Jimmy Freeman (aka: Bounty Hunter) in the second round. Miceli won in points and Freeman then went on to compete against Afterburner, the U.S. Air Force themed truck driven by Damon Bradshaw. Bounty Hunter kissed the side of the ring and would have rolled if not for the barrier, leaving Bradshaw to do a few victory 360s for the crowd.
Every truck in the arena was themed, and some like the Monster Mutt, made sure they lived up to their names. Complete with a tail, floppy ears, doggy nose and tongue protruding from the grill, Mutt had a ferocious roll in the third round but driver Dana Creech not only safely made it out of the completely flipped truck, but (in spite of a huge oil leak) was still able to drive the mutt off of the track.
In the end, the U.S Air Force truck driven by Bradshaw was the racing winner while Maximum Destruction driven by Tom Meets won the Freestyle award.
